Boston Globe – Best in Show

A small Vermont company came away with the top accolade for best new product at the Sofi Awards in June in New York from the Specialty Food Association, a group of producers, wholesalers, and buyers. Sofi stands for “specialty outstanding food innovation.” The winner was Big Picture Farm of Townshend, Vt., for its farmstead goat’s milk caramels, which are made with rhubarb and raspberry (the company also won a Sofi for its Goat Milk Chai Caramels).
Seven other New England food producers won Sofis, a gold statue of a chef holding a chafing dish. Among the Bay State winners are Sauces ’n Love of Lynn for Pumpkin & Kale Alfredo sauce, Tea Forte of Concord for Vanilla Pear Tea, Coop’s MicroCreamery of Watertown for Salted Caramel sauce, and Nella Pasta of Quincy, which took the honor for handcrafted Corn, Caramelized Onion & Thyme Ravioli. Other winners, all from Vermont, include Wozz! Kitchen Creations of Hardwick for Kiwi Lime Salsa Verde, Vermont Creamery of Websterville for Cultured Butter Sea Salt Basket, and Fat Toad Farm of Brookfield for its velvety and creamy line of Goat’s Milk Caramel sauces.
